Everything seems to be getting moore expensive in Singapore what with inflation and rising raw material and labour costs. I was just lamenting to a friend that one can hardly find a bowl of noodles priced at $2 at the hawker centre anymore. So imagine my glee when I chanced upon this stall in the revamped Changi Village Hawker Centre. Moohehe.
San Yuan Gourmet serves up laksa, fishball soup, and fishball noodles at just $2 a bowl.
The Laksa ($2) was pretty delicious with a fragrant gravy with a touch of creaminess. Pieces of tau pok, cockles and beansprouts formed the main ingredients in the bowl.
Their Fishball Noodles ($2) featured decently-cooked noodles in a chilli paste and lard mix. The fishballs were average. Can eat lah but nothing really to shout about.
Overall, portions were on the small side but so was the price. Great to find that there's still $2 bowls of noodles out there! Good for those with small appetites and for those who like variety by having moore than one bowl of noodles for a meal. :p
