Craft Beers with Hawker Food

Bored of wine and food pairings? Is that jaded tongue even past tea and food pairings? Try craft beers and hawker food pairing!

I first met Daniel a few years ago at a craft beer event at Fat Boys and then more recently at a Kronenbourg event. Call it alcoholic fate but it is no surprise then to find out he has opened his own beer stall selling premium handcrafted beers at a hawker centre. Congrats, Daniel!

I finally popped by quite some months ago and have been raving to friends about this place- The Good Beer Company. Being in a hawker centre means that prices are kept wallet-friendly, there is no dress code and one gets to order any of the yummy local food from the many food stalls. :)

For my first tipple, I opted the Mahou Negra ($8)- a delicious dark Spanish brew with toasty, coffee and caramel notes that paired shiokly (it's grammatically correct. moohahaha) with the claypot rice.

Next up, upon hearing that I was ordering satay, Daniel suggested the Fuller's London Pride ($12). I found it to have a rounded flavour with a slight creaminess. Pretty enjoyable with the smokey grilled satay and spicy-sweet peanut sauce.

It was so relaxing to enjoy hawker food, really good beers and good company. After the clinking of glasses...

....xiao long baos appeared. And soon disappeared. LOL.

Happy thoughts of meaty wantons in a pool of spicy, piquant vinegar became a realty. Slurp!

And as a magnificent anchor to cement the night, the mysterious-sounding Golden Monkey ($10) was all I needed. Big (almoost 10% alcohol), bold, rich, balanced, delirious.

I was hppay, sastisfeid and abslouetly loved the whloe experinece of hakwer fodo with crfat beeeers. Hic.
