Spicy Chicken Soup for the Soul

Chicken soup is always comforting to me and when it comes to Mee Soto ($3), it is no different. Tasted on its own, the broth here is clean tasting with gentle flavours from boiling chicken and spices like ginger, onion and lemongrass among others.

BUT the oomph comes from the chilli paste which I suspect has chilli padi. Mixing a dollop into the soup resulted in heat and depth of flavours that brought this dish to another level. Simply sedap!

It may be a humble dish with nothing more than egg noodles, beans sprouts, shredded chicken, chilli paste, and garnished with fried shallots and cilantro, but this bowl of Malay-style chicken noodles soup brought a comfort beyond my four stomachs.
