Pretty Good Jap-Italian Pastas

While the debate on yu sheng's origins is still in the air, I think Yomenya Goemon is quite smart. It does not argue if noodles were first invented in Japan or Italy or China. Instead it proudly serves pasta with Japanese, and Italian flavours.

The Shabu-Shabu Boiled Pork & Jap Veggies ($12.90 is dressed in a sesame sauce. Very savoury and a tad too salty for me taste buds. The chopped spring onions are refreshing and cut through this dish nicely.

I like the Cuttlefish Ink & Karasumi Dried Mullet Roe ($13.50). It was dark, garlicky and with a flavour of the sea.

And since it was the 15th day of CNY aka Chap Gor Meh, we lo hei-ed the pasta! Moohahaha.

The Genovese ($12.90) with shimp and avocado was yummy in a fragrant pesto sauce. Creamy avocado. Mmmmm. :)

For an interesting bite, try the Roast Duck Pizza ($17.90). There is an element of Chinese roast duck flavours here with plum sauce and hoisin. The crust is chewy and a little like Japanese bread. The only thing is I wished there was more meat! The duck skin had a layer of fat which provided much flavour but alas, also made the pizza oilier.

But no worries as there is a salad bar to provide crunch and a refreshing break from the carbs and oil. Salad bar is optional and can be added in for a few dollars. Note, one serving only. Not buffet hor.

Here's my bowl with cherry tomatoes, lettuce, Japanese cucumber, corn kernels, alfafa sprouts, tofu and sesame seeds.

I like that their portions of the pasta are large and the pasta is cooked just right! Firm with a good bite. Nomnomnom.

They have an outlet at Marina Bay Link Mall too! Quite like their food (Mediterranean Tomato Cream Soup (Spaghetti with Fresh Seafood)) here

FoodieFC: Yes, I first noticed that outlet on the way to the loo! LOL. Will head back to try their other pastas!

Hahaha, yeah, why argue about origins. If something gets re-invented for the better, why not. Like wafu pasta! Yomenya Goemon is da bomb! The MBLM one is their first outlet. They are quite consistent so far in QC too.
