I don't know about the rest, but I couldn't quite feel the food that we just had at Gunther's. Brain was sending messages that read: Stomach feels empty. Need more food. I have always preferred substantial (read filling) food in hearty (read healthy) portions. No offence but unless it is a 30-course thing at a fine-dining restaurant, it can't be called a real meal. Not even lunch.
So it was with much glee that the few of us wanted mee pok, beef noodles.... we settled on chicken rice.
1/2 Roast Chicken ($12) and 1/2 Steamed Chicken ($12).
The all important (and filling) chicken rice's Rice. Lol.
The fibre and sambal-laden Sweet Potato Leaves ($8).
This Hainanese Claypot Mutton ($15) was sure dark, sticky and surprisingly non-muttony! Besides meat there were other parts of the animal. I think I had a piece of tribe.
Camemberu and Black Tie White Lie (some say Hairy Berry) got excited when they spotted Hokkien Mee ($8? Forgot the exact amount.) on the menu but alas. It wasn't the dark KL-style Hokkien Mee they were hoping for. This one here had a very strong taste of alkaline.
2nd lunch ended at about 4pm. By then, my stomach was belly happy and I was looking forward to a friend's birthday celebrations later that evening.
Thank God for affordable, easily available and quite delicious street food...and
